Sorry I kicked the map into the creek
You may or may not get that reference.So anyway, watched Rec with Justin and Melvin earlier today and I found out that I have a thing for survival horror stuff (Bioshock and Dead Space) and also movies that are filmed with a camera held by one of the characters (The Blair Witch Project and Cloverfield).
The Blair Witch Project, Cloverfield and Rec, in my opinion, are awesome shows that really get to build up the atmosphere as, with one of the characters holding the camera, the viewer can sort of feel as though he/she is there and that obviously enhances the experience.
The Blair Witch Project was really good in adding suspense and a sense of hopelessness. Rec too was awesome in adding that sense of hopelessness, though this one had way more action and less suspense. For example:
The Blair Witch Project: Oh shit...oh shit...shit...
Rec: OH SHIT OH SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT!!!
Cloverfield, though, was more...action-packed and more Hollywood-esque. Really awesome, still, because with more Hollywood-ness, there's that layer of cheese that we all, as consumers, love to...consume.
What they do have in common, though, is that they make you think, "Damn, their lives suck. Fo sho."
So, um...yeah. Three pretty badass movies right there.
